Introduction

Prépa brevet is a partnership between ENAC and Saint-Jean secondary school, in Saint-Sulpice-la-Pointe (Tarn). It’s under the authority of the Auteuil apprentice’s foundation which assists these young kids in social difficulties during their formation and professional insertion.

Each Thursday, ENAC students go over there to give the students a one-hour course. Originally, students were responsible for a dozen 10th grade pupils – however the system has extended to three or four 9th grade pupils on the same time slot. We essentially dedicate ourselves to pupils in difficulties – yet, they are still very likeable and friendly, so, don’t be intimidated to come help them in maths!

During certain events, the pupils come to ENAC in order to take part in the jobs’ forum, visit our school or get a certificate for their participation in the programm. These occasions allow us to strengthen our relationships and to broaden their horizons.

Organization

Each session ideally requires one tutor for three pupils – you will see it’s not sufficient sometimes!. Most of the time, we are three with the 10th grade pupils and one with the 9th grade pupils. At the beginning of each week, the responsible has to find enough tutors for Thursday class. The teaching content is sent during the week and one tutor per group must prepare the oncoming session – which only requires about one hour of work. However, we are currently trying to gather every prepared exercise sheet in order to create a database. This will certainly reduce the amount of work for the following years.

Please note that the more tutors there are, the easier it is to organise shifts. Thus, those who are willing to come regularly can do so, as well as those who don’t have the same possibilities.

Session content

At the beginning of the session, it is usual to remind the students of the lesson’s essential notions. Then, we propose them some exercises that they have to correct on the blackboard. Sometimes, it can be useful to spend time on their tests, especially for the January’s mock exam.

The session is not a study period, the pupils must not do their homework. Yet, we can still of course help them at the end of the class for any further questions regarding their exercises.

Trip and proceeding

The programme is managed by ENAC, which means the school lends us official car and reimburses every possible cost.

The session takes place between 5:10 pm and 6:10 pm. A group departure is organized at 4:15 pm near Latécoère parking. As we arrive, a small briefing takes place with the pupils’ teachers to discuss any particularity for the session. We also are given the pupils list. We get back to ENAC near 6:40 pm.

A good level of French is required.
